Reigning Ghana High School Basketball Champions Wesley Girls High School headline a strong group to represent the Central Region at the upcoming national championship. The team and Aggrey Memorial Mount Zion School will represent the region in the female division.

Record winners of the national competition Mfantsipim School and arch rival St. Augustine's College have sealed places at the Sprite Ball Championship which takes place at the El Wak Stadium in Accra from January 4-6, 2018.

Wesley Girls topped Aggrey with a 12-11 win in the final game to repeat its title winning exploits last year and hope to do same at the national level. The team came up on top of a six team roster in the regional game played in Cape-Coast with Swedru Business School blowing out minnows Adankwaman Senior High School 27-3 to clinch third place but will miss the national games.

In the boys division, Mfantsipim and Augustine's squared off for the title with both teams having secured qualification; record winners Mfantsipim beat Augustine's 20-18 in a lively contest the latter could have won or forced over time bar missing free throws at crucial moments in the game.

Adisadel College piped Insaniyya Senior High School 27-25 to clinch third in the six team division. Qualifiers will be concluded later this week when games in the Greater Accra Region will be played on Saturday December 9.
