Sprite Ball qualifiers heading to a close in Ghana - Dec 2, 2017

Qualifiers for Ghana's most celebrated high school basketball tournament, the Sprite Ball Championship, is gradually heading to a close as qualifying games in various regions in the West African country.

The national championship is set to be held in the nation's capital, Accra from January 4 to January 6, 2018 and qualifying games to determine schools to represent regions at the national stage. Games in the Western Region will be played today with those in the Central and Greater Accra Regions set to be played in the coming week.

In the Eastern Region, Pope John Senior High School and Koforidua Senior High Technical School will represent the region in the male division while Nkawkaw Senior High School will be the region's representative in the female division.

Volta Region has usual suspects Keta Senior High School and Mawuli Senior High School qualify from the male division and Awudome Senior High School clinch the female regional division to qualify as representatives.

Ashanti Regional qualifiers were played first and have reigning national male champions Opoku Ware School, Prempeh College and T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High make it from the male division. Silver medalist at the last edition Kumasi Girls High School and T.I. Ahmadiyya clinched the qualifuying spots in the female division.

  



2018 Accra Basketball League to start on March 21 - 3 days ago
The 2018 Accra Basketball League (ABL) will commence on March 21 at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu after the league board made the announcement recently. The 2017 season ended with Braves of Customs winning the ABL Men's Division I. A general meeting will be held on March 1 and teams are expected to complete player registration on March 9.
