The University of Ghana (UG) has won a second straight Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship after beating Marshalls University College 41-23 in the final game. Ghana's premier University followed up last year's triumph with another dominant performance to win the West African nation's most prestigious tertiary basketball tournament.

In a final game that failed to lived up to the hype, UG capitalized on slack play from Marshalls University as the side coughed up six turnovers in the first two minutes leading to quick fast break layups from the host. Marshalls clearly showed signs of fatigue after grueling games in the knockout phase coupled an intense PUSAG title winning campaign just a day earlier prior to the UPAC Games.

Experienced backup Guard Joshua Akai came off the bench and produced a Finals MVP performance with defense splitting passes and tremendous work on defense for UG. UG led 23-13 at the start of the final quarter but all Marshalls could muster in the closing quarter was a three point shot from Center David Asingar and a couple of baskets from Evans Anfom.

Two time winners Accra Technical University clinched the bronze medal following a 42-20 win over University of Energy and Natural Resources. UG starting Point Guard Joel Tham was named Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.
