Reigning Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Champions University of Ghana (UG) has been drawn to play in Group A for the quarterfinals with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), University of Cape-Coast (UCC) and Marshalls University College.

The group has been labeled as the tougher of the two groups as last year's losing finalist Accra Technical University (ATU) is in Group B and will play against University of Energy and
Natural Resources (UENR), All Nations University College and University of Development Studies (UDS-Tamale).

All games will be played on April 7 and the final stages of the knockout level will be completed on April 8 at the University of Ghana (UG).

All teams in UG's group have finished in the top four spots in prior editions of the prestigious tertiary basketball tournament in the West African nation. ATU's group features two debutants in All Nations and UDS while UENR will be making its second ever appearance in the competition.

This year's edition is the fourth and ATU are the record winners with two in the bag but lost out on a third straight title after losing 44-45 to UG in the 2016 Final. The draw was administered during the live airing of basketball television show 'Courtside' on Ghana channel Kwese Free Sports.
