UPAC knockout phase to take place on April 7 and 8 - Apr 1, 2017

The 2017 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship knock out stages will take place on April 7 and April 8 per reports gathered from competition organizers Rite Sports Limited.

The knockout games will be staged at the home of reigning champions University of Ghana (UG) with seven other teams challenging for the chance to unseat the host team. A special draw for the quarter final pairings will be done during a live transmission of basketball television show, 'Courtside'.

The program airs on Ghana channel Kwese Free Sport between 14:00 and 16:00 GMT respectively. Some team representatives are expected in the studio for the live balloting as the eight qualified teams will be put in two groups with each group containing four teams each.

The top two teams from each group qualify to the semifinals of the competition.

UG headlines a top class which has Marshalls University College, All Nations University College, Accra Technical University College and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

University of Cape-Coast and University of Development Studies (UDS-Tamale) and University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) complete the list.

Games in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women's Division returned with a couple of exciting games involving the top ranked teams in the league, Tudu Galaxy and Braves of Customs. Braves easily handled Ghana Navy beating them 50-30 in the opening game before Tudu Galaxy survived an absolute scare to pip Fire Service 27-26. Fire Service has delivered a knockout blow to the title chasing ambitions of Ghan navy in the 2017 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women's Division season thanks to a nail biting 53-51 win at the Lebanon House Court.
