University of Cape-Coast (UCC) has gained qualification to the quarter finals of the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship after topping Zone C in this year's edition.

UCC hosted and won the zonal tournament on the back off a three game winning run that had the side beat strong rival Takoradi Technical University (TTU), University of Education-Winneba (UEW) and Cape-Coast Technical University (CCTU). The standout result was a 36-22 blitzing of TTU which represented a complete turnaround from 2016's 46-49 loss to the same side in the final game.

Beating TTU capped off a successful tournament for the host team and can now switch concentration on the quarters which takes place on April 6 and 7. For TTU, this was a disappointing campaign after winning the zone and placing fourth at the national championships. The side won just a game beating CCTU 50-32.

UEW placed second after beating CCTU and TTU but losing 22-27 to UCC derailed the side's chances of making it to the next stage. CCTU lost all three games.
