2017 UPAC Championship start cancelled - Feb 17, 2017

The start date for this year's Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship will not start today. The competition was scheduled to tipoff later today at the University of Ghana with games in Zone A set to be played.

2015 fourth placed side Marshalls University College, Maritime University College, Ghana Technology University College and Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) have been drawn in the Zone.
However, reports from organizers Rite Sports Limited indicate a series of instances have halted the progress on meeting the set date chief among them the untimely death of Acting Chairman of Ghana 's Basketball Referee Association Matthias Ocloo.

Ocloo, who is a former Coach of the country's National Female Team and reigning UPAC Champions University of Ghana, is a leading supervisor of the competition.
He passed away at his residence in Accra after a protracted illness the past months.

UPAC is the most prestigious tertiary basketball tournament in Ghana and features teams from the country's three tertiary sectors.
