Tertiary Player of the Year misses Nigerian top award - Feb 3, 2017

2015 Tertiary Player of the Year winner Wilfred Romeo Enan missed out on winning the Best Player of the Year in the Male Category at the Nigeria Basketball Federation Awards.

Kano Pillars Dele Ademola won the Award ahead of teammate Abubakar Usman and Romaric Yamalin of Nigeria Customs and Enan who played for Kano Pillars during the Nigerian side's impressive performance in the FIBA Africa Champions Cup in Egypt last year.

The Kwara Falcons Center impressed in his debut season in the Nigerian league after an equally impressive stint in Ghana where he starred for Accra Basketball League Division I
side Braves of Customs and Accra Technical University (ATU).

After getting selected into the All-Star Game, Enan was named Most Outstanding Player before aiding the side to a final four position. He was included in Pillars team that won the FIBA Africa Zone Three Championship before placing fourth in Egypt.

The 6 foot 9 inch Ivorian Center guided ATU to win the 2015 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship before being crowned the best player at the Tertiary Division at the 2015 Ghana Basketball Awards.

This year's competition begins on February 17 and ends on April 8.

San Antonio Spurs (NBA) cut 23-year old Ghanian center Amida Brimah (213-104kg-94, college: Connecticut). Brimah has never been drafted by the NBA. He just graduated from University of Connecticut and it is his first season in pro basketball. Brimah's team made it to the AAC Tournament Semifinals. Ghana Police have jumped to first place in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men's Division II after recording a resounding 81-54 win over Junior Reformers in a game played at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu. The game was the last of two ties fixed for the round; Navy Warriors beat Tudu Galaxy 66-59 in the opening game.
