Sprite Ball Championship officially launched; Shocks aplenty in Girl's division - Dec 29, 2016

The tenth anniversary edition of the Sprite Ball Championship was officially launched at the El Wak Stadium with a slew of dignitaries in attendance. Ghana Basketball Association Chairman David Addo Ashong, Africa's sole Boxing Hall of Famer Azumah Nelson, Coca-Cola Marketing Director (Ghana) Kgomotso Tabane, Ghana Education Service Coordinator Emmanue Dormenya and several school Principals were present for the occasion.

Special awards were handed out to outstanding performers in the decade long tournament with record winners Mfantsipim School scooping the biggest prize the Coca-Cola Leadership and Excellence Award plus the Most Consistent and Outstanding Award.

On the court, there were shock results particularly in the girls division as finalists at the last edition Accra Wesley Girls High School got stunned by two straight losses to Kumasi
Girls and Wesley Girls High Schools respectively.

Title outsiders Mamfe Methodist Girls Senior High School flexed its readiness to battle for medals as it registered 27-21 and 16-11 wins over West Africa Senior High School and Three Town Senior High School respectively.

In the boys division, heavyweights Mfantsipim School, Opoku Ware School and defending champion St. Augustine's College all scored wins. However, Western Region representatives St. John's School and Ghana Senior High Technical School (GSTS) recorded impressive over Adisadel College and Koforidua Senior High Technical School
(KSTS) respectively.

The tournament continues today with former winners Mfantsipim School set to play Keta Senior High Technical School in a rematch of the 2015 Finals.

Pair clinch wins in Accra League Men's Division I - 3 days ago
A couple of games have been played at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu with Ghana Navy taking on Tema Youth and DC Dynamics playing Adenta Leopards. The Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women's Division has opened on a flying note at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu as Fire Service beat Tudu Galaxy 48-27 in the opening game and Braves of Customs went past Ghana Navy 53-41 in the second and final matchup of the round. Tema, Tudu dominate opponents in Accra Men's Division - 19 days ago
Tema Youth and Tudu Magic have secured big wins in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men's Division I games played at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu. Tema secured a 60-47 win over Fire Service while home side Tudu Magic delivered a splendid performance to beat Adenta Leopards 69-40.
