Sprite Ball Championship officially launched; Shocks aplenty in Girl's division - Dec 29, 2016

The tenth anniversary edition of the Sprite Ball Championship was officially launched at the El Wak Stadium with a slew of dignitaries in attendance. Ghana Basketball Association Chairman David Addo Ashong, Africa's sole Boxing Hall of Famer Azumah Nelson, Coca-Cola Marketing Director (Ghana) Kgomotso Tabane, Ghana Education Service Coordinator Emmanue Dormenya and several school Principals were present for the occasion.

Special awards were handed out to outstanding performers in the decade long tournament with record winners Mfantsipim School scooping the biggest prize the Coca-Cola Leadership and Excellence Award plus the Most Consistent and Outstanding Award.

On the court, there were shock results particularly in the girls division as finalists at the last edition Accra Wesley Girls High School got stunned by two straight losses to Kumasi
Girls and Wesley Girls High Schools respectively.

Title outsiders Mamfe Methodist Girls Senior High School flexed its readiness to battle for medals as it registered 27-21 and 16-11 wins over West Africa Senior High School and Three Town Senior High School respectively.

In the boys division, heavyweights Mfantsipim School, Opoku Ware School and defending champion St. Augustine's College all scored wins. However, Western Region representatives St. John's School and Ghana Senior High Technical School (GSTS) recorded impressive over Adisadel College and Koforidua Senior High Technical School
(KSTS) respectively.

The tournament continues today with former winners Mfantsipim School set to play Keta Senior High Technical School in a rematch of the 2015 Finals.

Tema Youth jumps to top position in Accra League Men's Division - 3 days ago

Brimah nets 12 points in debut game for Partizan in Serbia - 4 days ago
Amida Brimah has opened his account for new side Partizan BC scoring 12 points and grabbing nine rebounds in a 90-67 win over Vojvodina in the Serbian playoffs. Brimah's production was excellent since it came in 13 minutes off the bench while adding two blocks in the big home win for Partizan who begin the first round in Group B of the playoffs in a big way. University of Ghana recovers to beat Accra Technical In 2018 UPAC Final - 9 days ago
University of Ghana (UG) has made history in the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship by winning the competition for an unprecedented third time.
