Defending champs to earn easy trips at Sprite Ball - Dec 25, 2016

Defending champions and Central regional pair St. Augustine's College and Aggrey Memorial Mount Zion School have been handed easy draws at the upcoming Sprite Ball Championship.

In Group A, Augustine's will play Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC-Osu), Mawuli Senior High School and Kumasi Anglican Senior High School. Augustine's strong rival Mfantsipim School on the other hand has daunting task ahead as it has been paired in Group C with Sacred Heart Senior High School, St. John's School and Prempeh College.

In the girls division, Aggrey Memorial faces two debuting schools in West Africa Senior High School and Three Town Senior High School. Methodist Girls Senior High School completes Group A.

Awudome Senior High School and T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School pulled out of the competition at the last juncture citing internal issues.

The Championship is set to take place between December 28 and December 30 at the El Wak Stadium in Ghana's capital, Accra. Below is the full list of groups for the tournament:

San Antonio Spurs (NBA) cut 23-year old Ghanian center Amida Brimah (213-104kg-94, college: Connecticut). Brimah has never been drafted by the NBA. He just graduated from University of Connecticut and it is his first season in pro basketball. Brimah's team made it to the AAC Tournament Semifinals.
