The 2016 Accra Basketball League Men's Division I season has ended with a familiar face picking up the league title. Braves of Customs successfully defended its league title by beating Tema Youth 67-52 in the final game of the season at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu, Accra.

The game which patronized by a bevy of former players and administrators had Braves set the championship winning tone with a dominant first quarter performance that saw them lead 23-6 after 10 minutes.

Turnovers and series of misses at the free throw line haunted Tema Youth in the quarter and the remainder of the first half as Braves trio of Ghana Basketball Awards Most Valuable Players in Baniba Dodzie, Abdul Mutaleeb Alhassan and Suleman Abubakar played key roles in the blistering half.

The third quarter brought more joy for Tema as Point Guard Nana Owusu Afriyie's dead eye shooting from the arc whittled Braves lead to five (37-32) before a chase down block from Forward Kwame Boamah Djan on Alhassan produced the game's top highlight.

Veteran backup Point Guard Patrick Gomerli checked in early in the final quarter for Dodzie who was frustrated with some calls from referees on the night and delivered a vintage performance by converting two three point shots to cap off another title winning season Braves.

The side will be in Lome, Togo to compete in the FIBA Africa Zone Three Championship which tips off on October 21. Ghana's other representative Tema Youth, will not feature in the competition due to financial reasons.
