Egypt through to FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2017 - Mar 19, 2017

Egypt on Saturday became the seventh national team to qualify for the FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2017 after beating Uganda 92-68. Reem Osama (170-PG-93) led Egypt with a team-high 22 points, Soraia Deghady (95) added 14 points and 7 assists as Egypt closed their qualifier undefeated in four games. Uganda, who made debut in the Final Round of the African championship two years ago, return home with a 1-3 record, while Kenya also finished with a 1-3 mark. With the win, Egypt join African champions Senegal, Cameroon, Nigeria, Angola, Mozambique and Mali. Three other national teams are expected to qualify for the 12-team Final Round of the African Championship which will take place in Bamako from September 15-24. This will be Egypt's third straight appearance in FIBA Africa top women's competition.
