Christian
Eyenga
Openjobmetis Varese (Serie A) landed 27-year old Congolese small forward Christian Eyenga (201-95kg-89). It is actually his comeback to Openjobmetis VA as he has played here before. Eyenga is a well-known player in Italian Serie A where he played most recently at Auxilium Torino in Italian Serie A. He managed to play in three leagues last year (!!!). In 12 Serie A games he averaged 9.9ppg, 2.9rpg, 1.3apg and 1.0bpg. Eyenga helped them to make it to the Supercup semifinals. He also played that season for Banco di Srd. The team played in three different competitions that year, and Eyenga had a chance to explore basketball on different levels. In 18 Serie A games he recorded 9.2ppg, 4.3rpg, 1.4apg and 1.0bpg. He also played 10 games in Euroleague where he got 10.8ppg, 4.0rpg, 2.2apg and 1.3spg. And finally Eyenga contributed to 3 games in Eurocup where he got 9.7ppg, 2.3rpg, 1.7apg and 1.3spg.
In 2009 Eyenga was drafted by Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA) in first round (30th overall).
He won NBA Pacific Division championship title in 2012.
Eyenga represented DR Congo at the African Championships in Angola nine years ago.
He is a very experienced player. Eyenga has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to five different countries on three different continents (Europe, Asia and of course North America). Eyenga has played previously professionally in China (Shanxi Zhongyu), Poland (Stelmet and PGE Turow), Spain (Joventut), NBA (LA Lakers) and D-League (Texas Legends, Los Angeles D-Fenders, Erie Bay Hawks and Canton Charge).
His game is described as: (by Stevan Petrovic for NBADraft.net in 2009)
Possesses solid outside range out to 3pt (34% from 3PT). If he hits first few shots from the perimeter in a row he gets very confident and he is very difficult to guard ... Eyenga has good balance in his offensive game and almost the same number of outside shots as well as free-throws.
Eyenga is still a raw player offensively and still has trouble beating defenders off the dribble ... He is too predictable at times and drives to his right most of the time ... He still has lots of room to improve in these areas
.

Matteo Canavesi
