Christian
Eyenga
OpenjobMetis Varese (Serie A) agreed terms with 25-year old Congolese small forward Christian Eyenga (201-95kg-89). He already started the season at PGE Turow in Polish TBL league. The last season Eyenga played at Stelmet (TBL) in Poland. The team played in three different competitions (!!!) that year, and he was exposed to basketball on different levels. In 47 TBL games he had 10.2ppg, 4.1rpg, 1.7apg and 1.1spg. He helped them to make it to both league and supercup final after they ended regular season as second best team. Quite impressive season as he was named to Eurobasket.com All-Polish League Honorable Mention and to the All-Star Game. Eyenga also played 10 games in Euroleague where he recorded 9.2ppg, 4.7rpg and 1.5apg. He also played 6 games in Eurocup where he recorded 9.8ppg, 4.0rpg, 1.5apg and 1.0bpg. The most of previous (12-13) season Eyenga spent at Texas Legends in D-League. In 30 games he recorded 14.6ppg, 5.6rpg, 1.1apg and 1.9bpg in 2012-13 season. He also played at Shanxi Zhongyu (CBA) in Chinese league earlier that season. In 9 games he recorded very remarkable stats: 18.8ppg, 5.3rpg and 3.0bpg in 2012-13 season.
Eyenga ended the previous (11-12) season at the Lakers in NBA. In three games he recorded 4.0ppg and 1.3rpg in 2011-12 season. But the most of that year he spent at D-Fenders in D-League. In 11 games he recorded 7.9ppg, 3.3rpg, 1.3apg and 1.0bpg in 2011-12 season.
In 2009 Eyenga was drafted by Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA) in first round (30th overall). He won NBA Pacific Division championship title in 2012. Eyenga represented DR Congo at the African Championships in Angola seven years ago.
He is quite experienced player. Eyenga has played also professionally in Spain (FIATC Joventut and Prat), NBA (LA Lakers), D-League (Los Angeles D-Fenders, Erie Bay Hawks and Canton Charge) and DR Congo (B.C.Onatra Kinshasa).
He could be described: (by Stevan Petrovic for NBADraft.net in 2009)
Possesses solid outside range out to 3pt (34% from 3PT). If he hits first few shots from the perimeter in a row he gets very confident and he is very difficult to guard ... Eyenga has good balance in his offensive game and almost the same number of outside shots as well as free-throws.
Eyenga is still a raw player offensively and still has trouble beating defenders off the dribble ... He is too predictable at times and drives to his right most of the time ... He still has lots of room to improve in these areas
