Nigeria clinched the second straight win at the African Championship. They knocked down Republic of Congo in Abidjan to stay on top of Group D. Ike Diogu (204-F/C-83, college: Arizona St.) posted 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead the winners.
Nigeria unleashed 28 points in the opening quarter and grabbed a 10-point lead. Republic of Congo struggled to get any near their opponents in the second frame. Nigeria eased to a 53:32 halftime lead. Republic of Congo finally picked up the right rhythm in the third term. They dropped 26 points in the third term and narrowed the margin. But Nigeria quickly bounced back in the fourth period and sealed a comfortable victory at the end. Alade Aminu (210-C-87, college: Georgia Tech) finished with game-high 23 points and 9 rebounds, while Al-Farouq Aminu (206-F-90, college: Wake Forest) added 15 points for the winners. Giovan Oniangue (196-F-91) answered with 19 points for Republic of Congo. Bertrand Boukinda (F-81) and Kris Morlende (182-PG-79) had 14 points each in the defeat.

Galatasaray Odeabank Istanbul (BSL) agreed terms with 30-year old American (has also Congolese passport) shooting guard Dwight Hardy (188-89kg-87, college: St.John's) from Trabzonspor. Hardy has played there for the last three years. In 30 BSL games in Turkey he had 14.7ppg, 2.3rpg, 2.7apg and 1.1spg last season. Maurienne signs Karl-David Nkounkou - 10 months ago
Aix-Maurienne Savoie Basket (ProB) signed 24-year old naturalized Congolese center Karl-David Nkounkou (204-93) from ADA Blois Basket 41. In four ProB games he had 7.0ppg and 2.8rpg last season. The previous (15-16) season Nkounkou played at Hermine Nantes Atlantique where in 36 ProB games he recorded just 2.6ppg and 2.9rpg. He was named to Congo-Brazzaville National Team in 2015. Giovan Oniangue leaves Paris-Levallois - 11 months ago
26-year old naturalized Congolese small forward Giovan Oniangue (198-91) left Paris-Levallois (ProA) from Oniangue has played there for the last eight years. He played there also last season. In 11 ProA games he recorded 3.3ppg and 1.6rpg. Oniangue helped them to make it to the semifinals. He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2016.
