The hope of Togo of making any appreciable impact in group-D of the 26th FIBA Africa Championship for Men was completely shot-down Saturday by mobile Central Africa Republic side.

Togo gave up the first quarter by 12-22 points but showed some promises in the second quarter winning by 19-15 points to cut down the margin between it the FIBA Africa Zone-4 nation to six points going into the break by 31-37 points, it continue the flare in the third quarter losing by just two points 17-19 points to enter the last quarter with eight points deficits of 48-56 points.

And when many had thought that the Coach Guy Arneaud tutored Togolese side they gave in to the superior fire power of the Central Africa side losing the last quarter by 09-26 points for a final scores of 57-82 points.

Central Africa Max Kouguere led the floor with 24 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals, William Kossangue had 14 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals with Guy Kodio-Sitchi contributing 14 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals and one assist.

Berck/Rang du Fliers (NM2) agreed terms with 29-year old naturalized Congolese swingman Camille Eleka (196-88). He has played for the last three seasons at Caen Basket Calvados in the NM1, but left the team in Nov.'16. NM1 was a little too high level for him, where in 6 games he had just 1.3ppg last season. Orleans sign Loic Akono - 11 days ago
Entente Orleans 45 (ProA) signed 30-year old naturalized Congolese point guard Loic Akono (176-87). He has played for the last two seasons at Provence Basket in the ProB. In 28 games he had 3.5ppg, 1.2rpg and 1.6apg last season. The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Akono won French ProB championship title in 2011 and 2014. Earvine Bassoumba joins Rouen - 14 days ago
SPO Rouen Basket (ProB) agreed terms with 21-year old Congolese forward Earvine Bassoumba (202-96). He has played for the last four seasons at Le Mans Sarthe Basket in the ProA. ProA was a little too high level for him, where in only one game he did not score anything and had only 1 rebound and 1 block. ProB will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time.
