James Mays
Changwon LG Sakers (KBL) added to their roster 30-year old American (has also Central Africa passport) power forward James Mays (206-104kg-86, college: Clemson). He played last summer at Shaanxi Wolves in Chinese NBL league. In 28 games he recorded very impressive stats: 29.0ppg, 13.0rpg, 2.6apg and 2.2spg. Mays helped them to win the regular season. A very spectacular year in his career as he was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese NBL Honorable Mention. The last season he played at Al Shabab (D1) in UAE league. Mays contributed to his team winning the UAE League title (twice) (also twice).
In 2008 he was drafted by Colorado 14ers (D-League) as #2 pick overall.
Mays attended Clemson University and it will be his ninth season in pro basketball.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2013.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Mays was voted Asia-Basket.com All-PBA Commissioner's Cup Defensive Player of the Year in 2014.
He played at the Arab Club Championships Quarterfinals last year.
Mays is quite experienced player. Thanks to his pro career he managed to play on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America) in eight different countries. Mays has played previously professionally also in Dominican Rep., Italy (Enel Brindisi), Philippines (Purefoods Star), Puerto Rico (Capitanes), Turkey (Oyak Renault and Mersin Buyuksehir Belediyesi), D-League (Sioux Falls Skyforce, Springfield A. and Maine Red Claws) and NBA (Brooklyn Nets).
The scouts decsribe him following way: Showed an improved ability to find open looks for teammates; one of the quickest post players in the conference and maybe in the entire country...has the ability to create crowd enthusiasm by turning in exciting plays...he's also a very good defender, sees well the court and passes the ball well.
