Carlos
Andrade
Sport Lisboa Benfica (LPB) re-signed 38-year old former Portuguese international forward Carlos Andrade (197-78, college: Queens, NC). He has a double citizenship as he also holds Cape Verdean passport. Andrade has played there for the last four seasons. In 30 LPB games he averaged 11.0ppg, 5.7rpg and 2.4apg last season. He helped them to win the supercup and end the regular season at the top position. He can count that season as a very successful as was selected to Eurobasket.com All-Portuguese League Honorable Mention.
Among other achievements Andrade won Portuguese League championship title in 2004, 2005, 2011, 2013 and 2015. He received also Eurobasket.com All-Portuguese League Defensive Player of the Year award in 2012, 2014 and 2015. Andrade represented Portugal at the Qualifications to European Championships 2015 three years ago. His stats at that event were 4 games: 8.8ppg, 5.3rpg, Assists-3 (4.0apg), 1.3spg, FGP: 43.8%, 3PT: 33.3%, FT: 64.3%.
Andrade has played also in Germany (Deutsche Bank Skyliners), Spain (Gipuzkoa) and Portugal (FC Porto Ferpinta, Queluz and Portugal Telecom).
He is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Benfica.
Andrade attended Queens College, NC until 1999 and it will be his 18th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
Let's have closer look into His outlook: An hustler, with great battling mentality. Can spend time in the 2 and 3 positions, shoots well from outside and is effective in penetration. Gives his best, however, at the defensive side, where can shut up any kind of opponent, thanks to his hard nosed presence on the court.
