Ibrahim El Gamal (188-G-88) nails late three-pointer to pull Egypt to the semis of the 2013 Afrobasket. Trailing 71:73 he posted brought 74:73 advantage, while Mario Correia (189-G-78, college: Bryant) missed the shot with the buzzer.
Cape Verde started the game with 19-16 lead at the end of the first period and added 21-20 rally in the second frame. Egypt however needed a strong third period to take 61:55 lead after ABDALLA scored the last three points in the quarter. Cape Verde later created a 9-0 run to take 69:68 but fell short at the end.
Abd Alla Sheriff top-scored for the winners with 18 points and Haytham Kamal (207-C/F-87) collected 17 points and 11 rebounds. Ibrahim El Gamal poured in 16 and Assem Marei (206-F-92) scored 9. Brian Rudolph (180-PG-88) ended up with 19 points in defeat and Mario Correia posted 18. Aldevino Lima (208-F-86) scored 8, whilst Braima Freire (188-G-82) notched 7.

Seven Stars grabbed a National League 2017 title. They overcame Academica 54-52 in a tough game. Tchesco Duarte was named MVP of the tournament. Rosariense finished on the third place. They edged Salgadium 61-50.   [read more]

Jeffrey Xavier (ex FC Porto) agreed terms with Quimper - 29 days ago
Quimper UJAP (ProB) strengthened their roster with addition of 32-year old American (has also Cape Verdean passport) point guard Jeffrey Xavier (189-85, college: Providence). He played most recently at FC Porto in Portuguese LPB league. Xavier managed to play in three leagues last year (!!!). In 29 LPB games he recorded 10.0ppg, 3.0rpg, 2.8apg and 1.3spg. Electrico FC lands Antonio DePina - 30 days ago
Electrico FC (LPB) landed 22-year old American (has also Cape Verdean passport) guard Antonio DePina (193-95kg-95). He just graduated from Lincoln University of Pennsylvania (NCAA2). In 13 games he averaged 3.3ppg and 1.2rpg last season. As mentioned above DePina is just out of the college and it will be his first season in pro basketball.
