CV National team takes second loss in Zone II tournament - Aug 14, 2010

Senegal beat Cape Verde 84 to 65 in the second game of the first round of the zone II tournament in Dakar. Cape Verde entered the game well, but senegal in the end dominated the first period (26-17). The lions maintaind the lead until halftime, with an 11 point advantage (44-33). The CV national team showed some life during the third period, pressing and defending well, but were not able to get anything going in the offensive end. The senegalese held the Cape Verdeans charge, and their game began to
flow again, finishing the third period 65-45. The young Cape Verdeans showed their pride, and fought until the end, before closing the fourth period and losing 84-65.
Coach Alex Nwora commented at the end of the game 'this team is very young, we are at the rebuilding process, we are going to get better with each game we play, so don't count us out yet'.

Cape Verde will play today against Guin-Bissau, which also las two losses against Senegal and Mali.

Seven Stars grabbed a National League 2017 title. They overcame Academica 54-52 in a tough game. Tchesco Duarte was named MVP of the tournament. Rosariense finished on the third place. They edged Salgadium 61-50.   [read more]

Jeffrey Xavier (ex FC Porto) agreed terms with Quimper - 26 days ago
Quimper UJAP (ProB) strengthened their roster with addition of 32-year old American (has also Cape Verdean passport) point guard Jeffrey Xavier (189-85, college: Providence). He played most recently at FC Porto in Portuguese LPB league. Xavier managed to play in three leagues last year (!!!). In 29 LPB games he recorded 10.0ppg, 3.0rpg, 2.8apg and 1.3spg. Electrico FC lands Antonio DePina - 27 days ago
Electrico FC (LPB) landed 22-year old American (has also Cape Verdean passport) guard Antonio DePina (193-95kg-95). He just graduated from Lincoln University of Pennsylvania (NCAA2). In 13 games he averaged 3.3ppg and 1.2rpg last season. As mentioned above DePina is just out of the college and it will be his first season in pro basketball.
