Angola - Cape Verde 106:64

Angola celebrated the title at the 2009 Lusophony Games in Portugal. After beating the hosts in the semis Angolan team had little problems en route to the triumph. A Luis Magalhaes team overcame Cape Verde in the title decider. This marked the improvement for Angolan team as they finished in the second position during the first Lusophony Games in 2006.
Angola dominated from the start in this one. They outgunned their opponents 19:14 in the starting stanza. Angola fired 28 points in the second frame to ensure a 17-point lead at the interval. Cape Verde failed to change the complexion of the encounter after the long break. Angola thumped their counterparts in the third quarter to build a 27-point lead at the final break. They coasted to the win in the fourth quarter.
Carlos Morais (190-G-85) scored 19 points to lead the charge. Armando Costa (190-G-83) provided 18 points, while Domingos Bonifacio (189-G-84) finished with 13 points in the win. Jeff Xavier (185-G-85, agency: Bradley Sports Management, college: Manhattan) responded with 19 points for Cape Verde. Peter Cipriano (206-F-83, college: Southern) and Mario Correia (189-G-78, college: Bryant) had 10 points each in the loss.

Palmarejo Bulls wins U18 League - 4 days ago
Palmarejo Bulls won U18 League in Cape Verde. In the Final game they overcame Amibasket in a tough game 61-59. Angelito managed to bring the victory lmost with the buzzer. He was named MVP of the Finals. The second best player became Victor from the Bulls. Miguel (Amibasket) was the third top player, while Betinho (Bulls) was named the best coach.   [read more]
Cape Verde and Chad get second chance - 1 month ago
West African sides Chad and Cape Verde will have another shot at competing in the upcoming Africa Basketball Championship (AfroBasket) and 2019 World Cup qualifiers after both teams got selected to compete in a special tournament. Defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers inked 25-year old Spaniard-Cape Verdean center Edy Tavares (220-118kg-92). He started the season at Raptors 905 Missisauga. In 50 D-League games he averaged 10.5ppg, 7.9rpg, 1.5apg and 2.8bpg this season. A very good year in his career as he was selected to D-League All-Star Game.
