D.J. Strawberry selected the top Cameroonian playing abroad in last week's games - Nov 14, 2017

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Cameroonian players, who play currently abroad.


D.J. Strawberry
D.J. Strawberry
   #1. This week's number one is an international shooting guard D.J. Strawberry (196-85, college: Maryland, currently plays in Basketball Champions League). He led his Turkish team Besiktas to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams Aris (2-3) crushing them 83-61 in the Basketball Champions League last Tuesday. Strawberry scored 13 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Besiktas Sompo Japan Istanbul (4-1) is placed in the Basketball Champions League. It was Besiktas' fourth consecutive victory in a row. Strawberry has relatively good stats this season: 12.4ppg, 5.0rpg, 4.4apg, 2FGP: 40.7%, 3FGP: 40.7% and FT: 63.6%. He has a dual citizenship: Cameroonian and American. Strawberry is currently a member of the Cameroonian senior national team.

Kenny Kadji

   #2. Second place goes to an international power forward Kenny Kadji (211-88, college: Miami, FL, currently plays in EuroCup). He could not help Tofas (3-2) in their last game. Despite Kadji's good performance Tofas was edged 84-82 on the road by the lower-ranked (#3) Zenit. He scored 11 points in 22 minutes. They ended the series of three consecutive victories. This year Kadji has relatively solid stats: 13.4ppg, 3.8rpg, 2FGP: 54.8%, 3FGP: 44.4% and FT: 69.2% in five games he played so far. He is in the roster of the Cameroonian senior national team.

   #3. The Cameroonian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international swingman Luc Mbah a Moute (200-86, college: UCLA, currently plays in NBA). Mbah a Moute led Houston Rockets to an easy victory against the Indiana Pacers (6-8) crushing them 118-95 in the NBA in Sunday night's game. He scored 11 points in 25 minutes. The Houston Rockets have quite an impressive 11-3 record this season. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. Mbah a Moute has reliable stats this year: 8.4ppg, 3.7rpg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 62.2%(28-45), 3FGP: 32.5% and FT: 73.7% in 13 games. He played for the Cameroonian national team two years ago.

   #4. Shooting guard Jeremy Nzeulie (188-91, currently plays in France) was not able to help Chalon/Saor (1-8) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Nzeulie's very good performance the bottom-ranked Chalon/Saor was defeated 70-64 in Cholet by the higher-ranked Basket (#15). He was the top scorer with 16 points. Nzeulie also added 4 rebounds. Nzeulie's stats this season are: 13.3ppg, 3.6rpg and 3.4apg. He is another player who holds two passports: Cameroonian and French. Nzeulie used to play for the Cameroonian national team back in 2015.

   #5. International forward Narace Williams (201-97, currently plays in France) led Sluc Nancy to a victory against the ninth-ranked JA Vichy (2-3) 92-80 in the French ProB (second division) in Saturday night's game. He scored 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Sluc Nancy Basket Pro (4-1) is placed fifth in the ProB. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This season Williams averages: 7.0ppg, 4.6rpg, 1.4apg and 1.2spg. He plays currently for the Cameroonian national team.

   #6. Forward Arnaud-William Adala Moto (198-93, agency: Duran International, college: Towson, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for Cocinas.com (2-6) in their last game. Despite Adala Moto's good performance Cocinas.com was badly defeated 85-69 in Castellon by the higher-ranked (#14) Castello. He was the second best scorer with 13 points. Adala Moto also added 9 rebounds (was perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line) in 29 minutes. It was Cocinas.com's fifth consecutive loss in a row. It's Adala Moto's first season with the team. This year his overall stats are: 6.6ppg, 4.6rpg, 1.2apg and 1.4spg in five games. Adala Moto is an international player who is currently on the senior Cameroonian National Team roster.

   #7. An experienced former international forward Harding NaNa (203-81, college: Delaware, currently plays in Denmark) couldn't help Svendborg (3-4) in their last game on Thursday. Despite his good performance Svendborg was defeated 77-64 at home by the leading Horsens IC. NaNa recorded 11 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. NaNa's total stats this season are: 9.7ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.1apg. He used to play for the Cameroonian national team two years ago.

Junior MBida

   #8. Center Junior MBida (204-90, currently plays in France) managed to help Entente Orleans 45 to win against the tenth-ranked Quimper UJAP (2-3) crushing them 110-77 in the French ProB (second division) last Friday. He scored only 4 points. Entente Orleans 45 (4-0) is placed third in the ProB. So far his team won all four games in the Regular Season. MBida's total stats this season are: 7.0ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.8apg and 1.5spg. He used to play for the Cameroonian national team back in 2015.

Arsene Towa

   #9. Former international forward Arsene Towa (193-81, currently plays in Finland) couldn't help Jarvenpaa (1-5) in their game against TuNMKY (7-1) in the Finnish 1st Division (second division), despite his very good performance on Sunday night. Towa had a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added and 3 steals in 35 minutes. But the 11th-placed Jarvenpaa (1-5) lost 85-91 in Turun to the second-ranked TuNMKY in the Division A. Towa is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Jarvenpaa's roster. Towa has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 15.8ppg, 15.0rpg, 3.2apg and 1.7spg in six games. Towa used to play for the Cameroonian national team six years ago.

   #10. Guard Gedeon Pitard (188-89, currently plays in France) couldn't help Chalons-Reims (4-5) in their game against Le Portel (5-4) in the French ProA. He cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. Pitard scored only 2 points. Chalons-Reims was crushed 96-69 in Le Portel by the higher-ranked Le Portel (#8). It was Chalons-Reims' third consecutive loss in a row. Pitard's total stats this season are: 6.0ppg, 2.0rpg, 1.7apg and 1.2spg. He is a former international player as two years ago he still played for the Cameroonian senior national team.


The list of other players, who all have Cameroonian passport but never been selected to any of Cameroonian national teams:

   #1. Joel Embiid (213-C-94, college: Kansas, currently plays in NBA) led Philadelphia 76ers to a victory over the Los Angeles Clippers (5-8) 109-105 in the NBA in Monday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Embiid had a double-double by scoring 32 points and getting 16 rebounds in 36 minutes. The Philadelphia 76ers have 7-6 record this season. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Embiid's fourth year with the team. He has individually a very good season with high stats. Embiid averages: 20.9ppg, 10.8rpg, 3.2apg, 1.5bpg and 1.1spg in 11 games he played so far.

   #2. JP Tokoto (198-F-93, college: N.Carolina, currently plays in Australia) could not help one of league's weakest teams Perth Wildcats (5-3) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Tokoto's very good performance Perth Wildcats were defeated 88-82 on the road by the leading New Zealand Breakers. He was the top scorer with 30 points. Tokoto also added 8 rebounds. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's Tokoto's first year with the team. This season he has very high stats. Tokoto averages: 17.3ppg, 5.4rpg, 3.0apg and 2.0spg. He has a dual citizenship: Cameroonian and American.

   #3. Paul Biligha (200-C/F-90, agency: Players Group, currently plays in Italy) managed to help Umana Reyer Venezia in a 1-point victory against the tenth-ranked MIA-RO Cantu (3-4) 93-92 in the Italian Serie A last Saturday. Biligha scored only 2 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 19 minutes. Umana Reyer Venezia (6-1) is placed fourth in the Serie A. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. It's Biligha's first year with the team. This season he averages: 3.7ppg and 3.4rpg in seven games. Biligha is another player who holds two passports: Cameroonian and Italian.

   #4. Experienced Danny Gibson (178-PG-84, college: S.Indiana, currently plays in France) contributed to a Limoges CSP Elite's victory against one of league's weakest teams Boulazac Basket (2-7) 75-66 in the French ProA on Saturday night. He scored 8 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 6 assists. Limoges CSP Elite (0-5) is placed seventh in the ProA. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. This season Gibson averages: 7.8ppg, 2.6rpg and 4.3apg. He has both American and Cameroonian nationalities.

   #5. Pascal Siakam (206-F-94, college: N.Mexico St., currently plays in NBA) was not able to help the Toronto Raptors in their game against the Boston Celtics (12-2) in the NBA. He scored 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 19 minutes. The Toronto Raptors (7-5) were edged 95-94 in Boston by the Celtics. Siakam's stats this year are: 7.9ppg, 4.4rpg and 1.1apg in 11 games.

   #6. Bertrand Nkali (206-F-92, college: Houston, currently plays in Georgia) was not able to secure a victory for Mgzavrebi in their game against Dinamo Tbilisi in the Georgian Superleague. Nkali was the second best scorer with 9 points. He also added 9 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 30 minutes. His team was badly defeated by 16 points 80-64. This year Nkali's total stats are: 8.0ppg, 9.3rpg, 1.3apg and 2.4bpg in seven games.

   #7. Philippe Bayehe (204-F-99, currently plays in Italy) was the major contributor in a Roma S.Azzurra's victory against the 15th-ranked Isernia 64-46 in the Italian Serie B (third division) last Sunday. Bayehe had a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 14 rebounds in 31 minutes. This year Bayehe's total stats are: 7.4ppg, 10.0rpg and 1.3apg in seven games.

   #8. Maxime Djo Ebala (208-C-94, currently plays in France) helped Orchesien BC edge the eighth-ranked Rueil 73-72 in the French NM1 (third division) on Saturday night. He scored 6 points. Djo Ebala's total stats this season are: 3.9ppg and 2.8rpg. He also holds two passports: Cameroonian and French.

   #9. Johan Bitjaa Kody (207-C-93, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Spain) helped L'Hospitalet win their game against the closely-ranked Moron 88-82 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) in Wednesday night's game. Bitjaa Kody recorded 6 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 16 minutes. This year Bitjaa Kody's total stats are: 7.6ppg, 4.6rpg and 1.3apg in eight games.

   #10. Roland Nyama (198-G/F-93, college: Stony Brook, currently plays in Germany) helped Karlsruhe PS win their game against the league outsider Baunach 76-67 in the German ProA (second division) last Monday. He scored 5 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Nyama's total stats this season are: 5.6ppg, 2.9rpg and 1.2apg. He holds both Cameroonian and German passports.

Detroit Pistons cut 23-year old Cameroonian center Landry Nnoko (208-114kg-94, college: Clemson). The last season Nnoko played at VL Pesaro in Italian Serie A where in 30 games he averaged 6.4ppg and 7.1rpg. He has never been drafted by the NBA. Nnoko received ACC All-Defensive Team award in 2016 at his college time. Nnoko was a member of Cameroonian Senior National Team two years ago. He has played also professionally in .
