Kenny Kadji selected the top Cameroonian playing abroad in last week's games - May 16, 2017

We bring you last week's top performances from Cameroonians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.


Kenny Kadji

   #1. This week's number one is former international power forward Kenny Kadji (211-88, college: Miami, FL, currently plays in Turkey). He led Trabzonspor to a victory against the closely-ranked Usak Sportlif (8-22) 101-92 in the Turkish BSL in Friday night's game. Kadji scored 18 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 31 minutes on the court. Trabzonspor Medical Park Basketbol (10-20) is placed 12th in the BSL. The Regular Season already ended. It's Kadji's first season with the team. He has individually a very good year with high stats. Kadji averages: 15.2ppg, 5.8rpg, 1.3bpg, 2FGP: 60.2%(151-251), 3FGP: 27.3% and FT: 74.4% in 28 games he played so far. He played for the Cameroonian senior national team two years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to former international shooting guard Jeremy Nzeulie (188-91, currently plays in France). Nzeulie contributed to Chalon/Saor's victory against the ninth-ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque (16-17) 89-76 in the French ProA last Tuesday. He scored 8 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 4 assists. ES Chalon-Sur-Saone (26-7) is placed second in the ProA. It was his team's ninth consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Nzeulie's overall stats this season are: 9.0ppg, 2.6rpg, 2.5apg, 2FGP: 54.8%, 3FGP: 30.1% and FT: 77.5%. He has a dual citizenship: Cameroonian and French. Nzeulie played for the Cameroonian national team in 2015.

   #3. The Cameroonian player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international power forward Gaston Essengue (203-83, college: UNLV, currently plays in Argentina). He contributed to a 2-point Comunicaciones' victory against the leader Union SF (24-12) 73-71 in the Argentinian TNA (second division) last Monday. Essengue scored 16 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 31 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group North. Comunicaciones Mercedes (27-9) is placed second. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Essengue has relatively good stats this year: 13.5ppg, 6.3rpg, 1.4apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 54.9%, 3FGP: 25.0% and FT: 91.3%(105-115) in 45 games. He played for the Cameroonian national team two years ago.

   #4. Center Junior MBida (204-90, currently plays in France) led Lille Metropole to a victory over the closely-ranked Poitiers (17-16) 73-68 in the French ProB (second division) on Tuesday night. MBida was MVP of the game. He scored 14 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Lille Metropole Basket (20-13) is placed third in the ProB. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. MBida's overall stats this season are: 8.4ppg, 5.7rpg and 1.1bpg. He used to play for the Cameroonian national team back in 2015.

Former international point guard Seidou Njoya (188-89, agency: Promotex, currently plays in France) managed to help STB Le Havre in a victory against the closely-ranked Nantes (17-16) 82-77 in the French ProB (second division) in Tuesday night's game. Njoya scored 5 points in 9 minutes. STB Le Havre (17-16) is placed ninth in the ProB. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is quite important. This year Njoya's overall stats are: 2.1ppg and 1.2apg in 33 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Cameroonian and French. Njoya used to play for the Cameroonian national team two years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Cameroonian passport but never been selected to any of Cameroonian national teams:

   #1. Experienced Danny Gibson (177-PG-84, college: S.Indiana, currently plays in Bulgaria) was the major contributor in a Lukoil Academic Sofia's victory against the closely-ranked Rilski (14-10) 80-66 in the Bulgarian NBL on Saturday night. He recorded 14 points, 8 assists and 3 steals in 28 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Lukoil Academic Sofia (20-4) is placed first in the NBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Gibson has relatively good stats this year: 14.3ppg, 3.6rpg, 5.2apg and 1.3spg in 30 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Cameroonian and American.

   #2. Narace Williams (201-F-97, currently plays in France) could not help Sluc Nancy (7-26) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Williams' good performance the bottom-ranked Sluc Nancy was defeated 97-89 on the road by the leading Monaco. He scored 14 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Williams' team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Williams' overall stats this season are: 5.5ppg and 4.8rpg.

   #3. Brylle Kamen (201-F-88, agency: Promotex, college: San Jose St., currently plays in Belgium) managed to help betFIRST Liege Basket to win against one of league's weakest teams Leuven Bears (9-27) 70-58 in the Belgian Euromillions League last Wednesday. He scored only 3 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. betFIRST Liege Basket (12-10) is placed sixth in the Euromillions League. The Regular Season already ended. Kamen's total stats this season are: 2.6ppg and 3.2rpg. He is another player who holds two passports: French and Cameroonian.

   #4. Ralph Temgoua (194-G-87, college: St.Lawrence, currently plays in France) was not able to help Quimper UJAP in their game against Rueil (19-15) in the French NM1 (third division). Temgoua cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 3 points and added 3 assists in 18 minutes. Quimper UJAP lost 73-77 on the opponent's court to the lower-ranked (#7) Rueil. This year Temgoua's total stats are: 8.4ppg, 3.4rpg and 2.4apg in 37 games. He has both Cameroonian and French nationalities.

Houston Rockets (NBA) tabbed 31-year old Cameroonian ex-international swingman Luc Mbah a Moute (200-104kg-86, college: UCLA) from LA Clippers. In 87 NBA games in USA he averaged 6.2ppg, 2.4rpg and 1.0spg last season. In 2008 Mbah a Moute was drafted by Milwaukee Bucks in second round (37th overall). Umana Reyer Venezia (Serie A) inked 27-year old naturalized Cameroonian power forward Paul Biligha (200-106kg-90, agency: Players Group) from Vanoli Cremona. In 30 Serie A games he averaged 10.9ppg, 5.2rpg, 1.2apg and 1.1bpg last season. He helped them to make it to the Supercup semifinals. Jean-Dieudonniz Biog is a newcomer at Quimper - 21 days ago
Quimper UJAP (ProB) strengthened their roster with addition of 22-year old naturalized Cameroonian center Jean-Dieudonniz Biog (205-95). He played most recently at St Vallier in the NM1. In 32 games he recorded 3.5ppg and 2.7rpg last season. The previous (15-16) season Biog played at SO Maritime Boulogne. But in 32 ProB games he averaged just 0.9ppg and 1.3rpg.
