Arnaud-William Adala Moto's 33 points make him top Cameroonian player abroad of the week - Feb 28, 2017

We bring you last week's top performances from Cameroonians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is former international forward Arnaud-William Adala Moto (198-93, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA. Adala Moto could not help the Towson (9-5) in their last game on Thursday. Despite his very good performance the Towson was defeated 83-78 at home by the University of N.Carolina-Wilmington. Adala Moto recorded 33 points (!!!) and grabbed 6 rebounds. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. Adala Moto has relatively good stats this season: 12.8ppg, 6.6rpg, 1.2apg, 2FGP: 43.1%, 3FGP: 25.5% and FT: 73.7%. He played for the Cameroonian senior national team two years ago.

Jeremy Nzeulie

   #2. Second place goes to former international shooting guard Jeremy Nzeulie (188-91, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup). Nzeulie was not able to help Chalon/Saor in their game against Kormend (4-2) in the FIBA Europe Cup. He scored 9 points and added 3 passes in 26 minutes. But the first-placed Chalon/Saor (5-1) was edged 82-82 on the road by the leading Kormend in the group K of FIBA Europe Cup. They ended the series of six consecutive victories. It's Nzeulie's first season with the team. This year Nzeulie averages: 8.1ppg, 3.9rpg, 3.3apg, 2FGP: 51.4%, 3FGP: 30.5% and FT: 75.0% in 14 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Cameroonian and French. Nzeulie played for the Cameroonian national team in 2015.

   #3. The Cameroonian player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international power forward Gaston Essengue (203-83, college: UNLV, currently plays in Argentina). He led Comunicaciones to a victory over the third-ranked Barrio Parque (15-12) 76-61 in the Argentinian TNA (second division) in Friday night's game. Essengue was MVP of the game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 14 rebounds. Essengue also added 3 blocks and 3 steals. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group North. Comunicaciones Mercedes (22-8) is placed second. This season Essengue has relatively solid stats: 13.9ppg, 6.6rpg, 1.7apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 54.9%, 3FGP: 25.0% and FT: 91.6%(76-83). He played for the Cameroonian national team two years ago.

   #4. Forward Harding NaNa (203-81, college: Delaware, currently plays in Denmark) was the main contributor in Svendborg's victory against the league leader Horsens IC (20-5) 91-77 in the Danish Ligaen on Tuesday night. NaNa was the best player in that game. He recorded 20 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Svendborg Rabbits (13-12) is placed fourth in the Ligaen. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. NaNa has reliable stats this season: 12.1ppg, 7.5rpg and 2.1apg. He used to play for the Cameroonian national team back in 2015.

   #5. Former international swingman Luc Mbah a Moute (200-86, college: UCLA, currently plays in NBA) contributed to a 3-point Los Angeles Clippers' victory against the Charlotte Hornets (26-33) 124-121 in the NBA in Sunday night's game. Mbah a Moute scored 7 points and had 4 steals in 35 minutes. The Los Angeles Clippers have a solid 36-23 record this season. This year Mbah a Moute's overall stats are: 5.9ppg, 2.3rpg and 1.1spg in 57 games. He used to play for the Cameroonian national team two years ago.

   #6. Center Landry Nnoko (208-94, college: Clemson, currently plays in Italy) contributed to a VL Pesaro's surprising victory against the fifth-ranked Banco di Srd (11-9) 76-71 in the Italian Serie A last Sunday. Nnoko scored 6 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Consultinvest VL Pesaro (7-13) is placed 14th in the Serie A. Nnoko's total stats this season are: 5.9ppg and 7.3rpg. He is a former international player as he played for the Cameroonian senior team two years ago.

   #7. Former international forward Arsene Towa (191-81, currently plays in Finland) helped Jarvenpaa win their game against the fifth-ranked Jyvaskyla BA (12-11) 76-63 in the Finnish 1st Division (second division) on Friday night. Towa was the top player that evening. He had a double-double by scoring 25 points and getting 23 rebounds. Towa also added 5 assists in 40 minutes. Jarvenpaan Koripalloseura (8-15) is placed seventh in Division A. It was his team's first victory after eight consecutive loses. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Towa's stats this year are: 13.4ppg, 12.0rpg, 2.4apg and 1.7spg in 23 games. He used to play for the Cameroonian national team six years ago.

   #8. Guard Gedeon Pitard (188-89, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup) is a teammate of previously mentioned Jeremy Nzeulie and both played together in the last FIBA Europe Cup game. Pitard was not able to secure a victory for Chalon/Saor (5-1) in their game against Kormend (4-2). He cannot count Wednesday's game as one of the best ones. Pitard scored only 3 points. Chalon/Saor was edged 82-82 on the opponent's court by the leading Kormend in the group K of FIBA Europe Cup. Pitard's total stats this season are: 2.9ppg, 2.4rpg and 2.5apg. He used to play for the Cameroonian national team back in 2015.

Former international center Junior MBida (204-90, currently plays in France) helped Lille Metropole win their game against the closely-ranked Charleville-Mezieres (11-8) 74-71 in the French ProB (second division) in Friday night's game. MBida recorded 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 25 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Lille Metropole Basket (11-8) is placed fourth in the ProB. This year MBida's total stats are: 7.2ppg and 6.2rpg in six games. He used to play for the Cameroonian national team two years ago.

Point guard Seidou Njoya (188-89, agency: Promotex, currently plays in France) couldn't help STB Le Havre (10-5) in their game against Saint Chamond (7-12) in the French ProB (second division). Njoya cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 2 points. STB Le Havre was crushed 91-66 in Saint Chamond by the league outsider Saint Chamond (#18). It was STB Le Havre's third consecutive loss in a row. Njoya has averaged so far 1.9ppg and 1.4apg. He is a former international player as two years ago he still played for the Cameroonian senior national team.


The list of other players, who all have Cameroonian passport but never been selected to any of Cameroonian national teams:

   #1. Experienced Danny Gibson (177-PG-84, college: S.Indiana, currently plays in Bulgaria) led Lukoil Academic Sofia to a 2-point victory against the closely-ranked Academik Plovdiv (11-6) 82-80 in the Bulgarian NBL in Saturday night's game. He recorded 16 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists in 35 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Lukoil Academic Sofia (14-3) is placed first in the NBL. Gibson has relatively good stats this year: 14.3ppg, 3.4rpg, 4.8apg and 1.5spg in 17 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Cameroonian and American.

   #2. Paul Biligha (200-C-90, agency: Players Group, currently plays in Italy) led Vanoli Cremona to a victory against the third-ranked Umana Venezia (12-8) 91-82 in the Italian Serie A last Sunday. Biligha scored 11 points and added 3 passes in 29 minutes. Vanoli Cremona (6-14) is located at the very bottom in the Serie A. Biligha has reliable stats this year: 11.4ppg, 5.7rpg, 1.1apg and 1.3bpg in 20 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Cameroonian and Italian. Despite Biligha's Cameroonian nationality, he previously played for the Italian U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Cameroonian team.

   #3. Roland Nyama (198-G/F-93, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA could not help the Stony Brook (10-2) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Nyama's very good performance the Stony Brook was defeated 65-52 at home by the University of Maryland -Baltimore County. He scored 22 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. Nyama is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Stony Brook's roster. Nyama averaged so far 11.0ppg, 4.7rpg and 1.4apg. He has both German and Cameroonian nationalities. Despite Nyama's Cameroonian passport, he previously played for the German U16 national team and probably cannot be called to the Cameroonian team.

   #4. Franck Kouagnia (201-F-89, currently plays in Sweden) led Eskilstuna to a victory over the seventh-ranked RIG Mark (3-9) crushing them 68-42 in the Swedish Basketettan (second division) last Saturday. Kouagnia was the top player that evening. He had a double-double by scoring 30 points and getting 19 rebounds. Kouagnia also added 3 assists in 34 minutes. Eskilstuna Basket (11-1) is placed second in BEHS forts group. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Kouagnia has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 21.5ppg, 13.0rpg, 3.2apg and 1.6spg in 17 games. Kouagnia also holds two passports: British and Cameroonian.

   #5. Michel Enanga (196-F, currently studies in the States) managed to help Coastal Carolina College in a victory against the University of South Alabama (4-10) 81-77 in the NCAA on Monday night. Enanga recorded 5 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 12 minutes. The Coastal Carolina College has 0-1 conference record this season. His team will play only one more game in the NCAA Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Enanga has been at the team for five years. Enanga has averaged so far 3.1ppg and 2.0rpg in eight games.

   #6. Johan Bitjaa (207-C-93, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Spain) was not able to help Zamorano (5-17) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance the bottom-ranked Zamorano was defeated 72-67 on their home court in Zamora by the leading Sammic ISB. Bitjaa recorded 10 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. He has averaged so far 7.4ppg and 6.2rpg.

   #7. Bertrand Nkali (206-F-92, is currently at the American university) contributed to Houston's victory against the University of Connecticut 75-70 in the NCAA last Wednesday. Nkali scored only 2 points in 5 minutes on the court. He has averaged so far 1.4ppg, 2.1rpg and 1.3bpg in 27 games.

   #8. Ralph Temgoua (194-G-87, college: St.Lawrence, currently plays in France) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Rueil crushing them 83-52 in the French NM1 (third division) on Saturday night. Temgoua recorded only 4 points and added 3 assists. He has averaged so far 8.7ppg, 3.1rpg and 2.3apg. Temgoua has Cameroonian and French nationalities.

   #9. Kevin Chuisseu (203-F-92, currently plays in NCAA2) was not able to secure a victory for the Univ.of S.Carolina - Aiken in their game against the Augusta University in the NCAA2. He scored only 4 points in 16 minutes. His team lost 83-87 in the NCAA2. Chuisseu has averaged so far 2.3ppg and 5.5rpg in 23 games.

   #10. Mike Owona (206-C/F, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the N.Carolina A&T in their game against the Savannah State University in the NCAA. He cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. Owona scored only 2 points. His team was badly defeated by 19 points 110-91. He has averaged so far 1.2ppg and 1.8rpg.

Nigeria - Cameroon 106:91 Nigeria gained an early lead and never looked back en route to the victory over Cameroon in today's quarterfinal clash in Tunis. Ike Nwamu (196-G-93, college: UNLV) delivered 25 points and handed out 7 assists to lead the Tigers. Nigeria picked up the offensive tempo right from the start. Rwanda suffered a 77-81 defeat at hands of Cameroon Sunday afternoon to miss out on a place in the quarter-finals of the ongoing 29th African Basketball Championships (Afrobasket) in Senegal and Tunisia. Rwanda started the game with a clear intent to win and dominated the first quarter 22-18.
