U18 AfroBasket: Burundi and Somalia will not participate in Zone 5 Qualifying - Jul 4, 2012

The Federations of Basketball of Burundi and Somalia declared that they will not participate in the Zone 5 AFROBASKET U18 Qualifying tournament that will be held at AMAHORO Indoor Satdium in Kigali from 17th to 22nd July 2012. Particpating countries in the Zone 5 Qualifying tournament are Rwanda as host, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan. The team of Egypt is already qualified and will play the final round that will be played in Mozambique for men category.

Earlier it was announced: The Zone 5 Qualifying for AFROBASKET U18 (Men and Women) will be hosted by Rwanda. Initially, the tournament is scheduled from 17th to 22nd July 2012. The participants countries are: Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Egypt, Tanzania, Eritrea, Sudan, Somalia.

Patriots Basketball Club inks Jean de Dieu Niagunduka, ex Urunani - 1 Year ago
Patriots Basketball Club (D1) agreed terms with Burundian ex-international Jean de Dieu Niagunduka. He played most recently at Urunani in Burundian D1 league. Niagunduka was named to Burundian National Team in 2013. He was a member of Burundian Senior National Team since then. Urunani retain Zone V crown - 3 Years ago
Burundis Urunani Basketball Club retained the Fiba/Africa Mens Zone V Club Championships title after beating hosts KPA 68-59 on Sunday at KPA welfare gymnasium in Mombasa, Kenya. In the womens category, last years first runners-up United States International University (USIU) of Kenya clinched the title after humiliating local rivals KPA 63-28 in the final.
