Columbia, SC - South Carolina Head Coach Dave Odom announced today, by mutual agreement, Alassane Savadogo (206-F) has been released from the National Letter of Intent that he signed at the University of South Carlina in November of 2004.
"It is unfortunate that Alassane wil not be attending Carolina this fall," said Odom. "Since his signing, his situation has changed somewhat and it is best that he pursue other options. He is a fine young man and I remain available to help him as he desires."
Savadogo played this past season at Gulf Coast CC, where he averaged a little over 8 points and 8 rebounds per game. The Burkina Faso native once entered his name as a possibility to enter the NBA Draft before attending college, but has struggled to develop his game quickly in the past few seasons. He was also being recruited by Auburn and Pittsburgh at the time he chose South Carolina.
