Speaking to Angop at Luanda airport, shortly before the team's departure, the coach Manuel da Silva "Gi" said that the athletes are obliged to qualify for Congo Brazzaville Afrobasket2017 on August. Gi said the team conducted quick training session to enable the players to increase the offensive and defensive game. He said short period of training allowed to set some defensive principles as crucial for the game, rapid transitions in terms of counterattacks and recovery.

What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. The game between Top Four teams took place in Luanda. Second-best host Petroleos (18-8) lost to first ranked Libolo (25-1) 83-75. The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Libolo (23-1) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were edged by third ranked 1 De Agosto (17-7) 86-83. Defending champion maintains third position in I with 17-7 record having just eighteen point less than leader ASA.
