Recreativo do Libolo lost Wednesday to AS Sale of Morocco by 83-84, in the group B first round match of the African Champions men's senior basketball, underway from 07- 16 December in Cairo, Egypt. The Angolan athlete Olimpio Cipriano (194-F-82) was the top scorer of the game with 24 points, followed by his teammates Je'Kel Foster (194-G-83, college: Ohio St., agency: Inception Sports) and Andre Harris (201-PF-85, college: Fair Dickinson) with 18 and 10 points, respectively. 1 de Agosto, another Angola's representative in competition, are expected Thursday to enter the field in this 31st edition of African League. The title holders, Petro de Luanda, are not attending the competition. The tournament started with the GSP of Algeria who beat City Oliers of Uganda by 77-69 of group B. Twelve clubs are competing for the trophy in two series of six. The 1 de Agosto, with eight won trophies, are leading the table of the winners of this competition.

Angola's national basketball team's coach Manuel da Silva Monday considered Morocco the most difficult opponent in the match against Angola in the group stage of the African Cup of Nations (Afrobasket2017), scheduled for 8 - 16 September in Tunisia and Senegal. Yanick Moreira (ex Naft Abadan) joins Parma - 12 days ago
Parma Basket Perm (VTB) agreed terms with 26-year old Angolan ex-international center Yanick Moreira (211-100kg-91, college: SMU). He played last season at Naft Abadan in Iranian Superleague. Moreira also played for another team Raptors 905 in U.S. semi-pro league G-Leaguen that season where in 55 games he had 8.3ppg, 6.2rpg and 1.5apg. FC Porto (LPB) signed 28-year old naturalized Angolan forward Antonio Monteiro (204-96kg-89). It is actually his comeback to FC Porto_Ferpinta as he has played here before.
