Algeria confirm final roster for U18 Championship in Rwanda - Jul 19, 2016

With just 10 days to the start of the 2016 FIBA Africa U18 Championship, Algeria's final roster has been confirmed. This year's 12-team FIBA Africa's youth flagship event will run from 22-31 July in Kigali, Rwanda. Head coach Mohamed Abidat has selected an athletic team with the average height of 1.92m. The play-caller has also included three players, who helped the North Africans claim a Third-Place at last year's FIBA Africa U16 Championship in Bamako, Mali. While 2.06m center Abderrahmane Hailouf is set to take care of the boards, Mostefa Braik - a 17-year-old shooting guard, who led Algeria in Bamako with a team-high 15 points - is one of the men that head coach Abidat looks to propelling the team's offense in Kigali. Joining Braik are two revelations from the U16 team Islam Nizar Taleb and Mohamed Akram Sahbi - the former is currently looking to pursue his High-School career in the US. So far eleven national teams have qualified for the 2016 Rwanda showdown. One more team is expected to be awarded a wildcard to complete the 12-team event, which includes Algeria, Angola, Benin, Cote d'Ivoire, DR Congo, Egypt, Mali, hosts Rwanda, Tunisia,Uganda, and Zimbabwe.

FIBA African Champions Cup preliminary tournament - day 4: US Monastir beat GS Petroliers 85-72 - 4 days ago
Tunisia's US Monastir defeated Algeria's GS Petroliers (85-72), at a FIBA African Champions Cup preliminary tournament Group C day-4 game played on Wednesday in Monastir. This is the third win of US Monastir who had defeated Libya's Al Nasr 91-47 and Al Ittihad 94-65. They conceded a defeat to Morocco's AS Sale (89-93). D1 Round 6: USS loses #1 position - 8 days ago
The Regular Season in D1 just ended. There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.
Round 6 in D1 means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in El-Beida where host CRB Dar El-B. (4-0) crushed league's leader USS (4-1) 93-62 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same tim...

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in D1. What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. The most surprising game was a loss of NAH Dey (1-1) in Alger on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by CRB Dar El-B. (1-0) 73-61. Very important is a home loss of Constantine JP (0-0) against IRB Arreridj (1-1) on Saturday night. Host Constantine JP was crushed by IRB Arreridj in 90-62.
