D1 Round 25: Leader GS Petroliers lose to USS - Mar 30, 2016

Top ranked GS Petroliers (21-3) recorded its third loss in Alger on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked USS (17-6) 70-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of GS Petroliers. USS maintains fifth place with 17-6 record. Defending champion GS Petroliers still keep top position with three games lost. USS are looking forward to face USMB (#11) in Blida in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. GS Petroliers will play on the road against WA Boufarik (#9) and are hoping to win this game.
The game in Batna was also worth to mention about. Second ranked CRB Dar El-B. (20-5) played at the court of 6th ranked Olympi Batna (14-10). CRB Dar El-B. defeated Olympi Batna 77-67. CRB Dar El-B. have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 20-5 record behind leader GS Petroliers. Olympi Batna at the other side keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. CRB Dar El-B. will play against Skikda (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Olympi Batna will play against NAH Dey (#3) in Alger and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Blida between USMB and Staoueli. Eleventh ranked USMB (7-17) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Staoueli (14-11). USMB managed to escape with a 2-point win 84-82 on Saturday evening. USMB moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Skikda. Loser Staoueli keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. USMB will meet higher ranked USS (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Staoueli will play against Constantine and hope to secure a win.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Constantine. Local Constantine (4-21) was outscored by third ranked NAH Dey (18-7) 101-63. NAH Dey maintains third place with 18-7 record having just two points less than leader GS Petroliers, which they share with Arreridj. Constantine lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 21 games lost. NAH Dey's next round opponent will be Olympi Batna (#6) at home. Constantine will play against Staoueli (#7) and hope to win that game.

Other games of round 25 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
bottom-ranked Oran was defeated by Eleulma in a road game 65-51. Miliana was smashed by WA Boufarik at home 53-73. Arreridj won against Skikda on the opponent's court 68-64.

Eleulma - Oran 65-51

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Oran (3-22) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Eleulma (6-18) 65-51. Newly promoted Eleulma maintains twelfth place with 6-18 record. Oran lost third consecutive game. Oran at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay dead last with 22 lost games. Eleulma's next round opponent will be higher ranked Arreridj (#4) in B.B. Arreridj and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Oran will play at home against Miliana (#8) and hope to win that game.

Constantine - NAH Dey 63-101

The game with biggest result difference took place in Constantine. Local Constantine (4-21) was outscored by third ranked NAH Dey (18-7) 101-63. We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when ninth ranked WA Boufarik (10-14) smashed on the road 8th ranked Miliana (12-13) 73-53. Arreridj's next round opponent will be Eleulma (#12) at home and are hoping to win another game.
