D1 Round 18: CRB Dar El-B. edges Arreridj by two points - Feb 16, 2016

The most exciting game of round 18 in the D1 took place in El-Beida. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 4th ranked Arreridj (13-6) to second ranked CRB Dar El-B. (16-2) 92-90 on Friday evening. CRB Dar El-B. have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 16-2 record having just one point less than leader GS Petroliers. Arreridj at the other side keeps the fourth place with six games lost. CRB Dar El-B. are looking forward to face league's leader GS Petroliers in Alger in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Arreridj will have a break next round.
Leader GS Petroliers delivered the sixteenth victory. This time they crushed 10th ranked USMB (5-13) 81-45 in Blida. GS Petroliers (16-1) have an impressive 12-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position. USMB lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 13 games lost. GS Petroliers will play against league's second-placed CRB Dar El-B. in El-Beida in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. USMB will have a break next round.
Twelfth-ranked Eleulma (4-14) made lots of trouble for sixth ranked Olympi Batna (12-6) on Friday. Olympi Batna managed to secure only one-point victory 81-80. However their fans expected much easier game. Olympi Batna have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 12-6 record. Newly promoted Eleulma dropped to the eleventh place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Constantine and Skikda. Olympi Batna will meet at home higher ranked USS (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Eleulma will have a break next round.

Rest of the games of round 18 were very predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
US Setif crushed Skikda in a road game 82-55. NAH Dey smashed Oran at home 78-50. WA Boufarik lost to Staoueli on the opponent's court 63-72.

Skikda - US Setif 55-82

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Skikda (4-14) was crushed at home by seventh ranked USS (12-5) 82-55 on Saturday. USS moved-up to fifth place. Skikda lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 14 games lost. They share it with Constantine and Eleulma. USS will meet Olympi Batna (#6) on the road in the next round. Skikda will have a break next round.

USM Blida - GS Petroliers 45-81

Leader GS Petroliers delivered the sixteenth victory. This time they crushed 10th ranked USMB (5-13) 81-45 in Blida. GS Petroliers (16-1) have an impressive 12-game winning streak. No shocking result in a game in Alger where third ranked NAH Dey (15-3) smashed bottom-ranked Oran (1-18) 78-50 on Friday. NAH Dey maintains third position with 15-3 record behind leader GS Petroliers. Oran lost eighteenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 18 lost games. NAH Dey will meet WA Boufarik (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Oran will have a break next round.

SO Maritime Boulogne (ProB) inked 30-year old naturalized Algerian power forward Mehdi Cheriet (204-100kg-87, college: San Diego State). It is actually his comeback to SO Maritime Boulogne as he has played here before. Cheriet was about to sign at Chorale de Roanne Basket in the ProB. He has played there for the last three years. GS Petroliers celebrated 2016/17 title as they won both Final games against NA Hussein-Dey. GS Petroliers posted a 75-71 win in the opener and then won 94-61. Mohamed Seddik gave his team a 38-24 halftime advantage, while Faycal Belkhodja(192-G-88) nailed three for 64-32 lead.
