Egyptian team has sent a strong message to all other contenders in the African championship by cruising past Gabon 96 - 49 in their opening game of the tournament.

The team had a magnificent 33 - 0 run which started from end of 1st quarter and kept the Gabonese side scoreless for more than 10 minutes. The 2nd quarter on its own ended 39 - 3.

Egypt looks different this year, for sure the Gabonese team is only coming to Tunisia to gain experience but flashes of quality and talent of the Egyptians are crystal clear.

The tandem of Assem Marei and 7'2 Omar Oraby in the paint would be a nightmare to any other opponent. Assem despite not being on form today made 3 assists for Oraby, both showed great chemistry together.

Game Notes:

- No need at all for Ahmed Marei and his players to get tentioned as we have seen in the first quarter. He's a great coach that has a roster with lots of talent and depth.

- Egypt made (36) 3 points attempts scoring 12 of them which is 33%.

- Ibrahim El-Gammal lead the team with 14 points. He also made the biggest scoring margin when he was on the court (+32)

- What a start for Ehab Amin Ehab finished with 11 points and made a team high 4 assists. He moves smartly without the ball.

- With the presence of Stephane Lasme Egypt made 22 offensive rebounds and in total game ended (53 - 26) which is more than double rebounds.

- Omar Oraby is an influential player on both ends of the floor, he finished the game with 11 points 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks in only 15 minutes.
