Group A
Mauritius - Mozambique 28-94
Mozambique thumped Mauritius to secure the first victory in Group A. Bryan Ricotso (02) posted 15 points to lead the winning side. Mozambique established a 49:10 halftime advantage. They never looked back en route to the win. Clayton Clemente (01) and Ndzengo Buvana (01) had 10 points each in the victory. Hermann Camal (01) and Nevish Doorghen (02) responded with 8 points each for Mauritius.

Tunisia - Mali 40-61
Mali overcame Tunisia in the opener. Siriman Kanoute (01) posted 21 points and 7 rebounds to lead the winners. Mali grabbed a 37:28 halftime lead. They held Tunisia to just 12 points in the second half and marched to the winning outcome. Oumar Ballo (204-C-02) provided 20 points and 16 rebounds in the victory. Faiez Ghomrassi (01) responded with 14 points for Tunisia.

Group B
Egypt - Madagascar 117-63
Egypt defeated Madagascar for the opening victory at the championship. Momen Hassan (01) came up with 19 points, 6 steals and 5 boards for the winning side. Egypt used a 31:9 run in the second term to ensure a 31-point halftime lead. They sank 61 points in the second half and eased to the victory. Ahmed Saed (01) chipped in 14 points for the winners. Marco Rakotovao (01) produced 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 steals for Madagascar.

Rwanda - Algeria 39-61
Algeria cruised past Rwanda to open win count in Mauritius. Amir Bouzidi (01) netted 16 points and made 7 steals to pace the winning side. Algeria established a 31:11 halftime advantage. They protected the lead throughout the second half and coasted to the victory. Ouail Gadaoui (01) secured 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. FINAL Egypt - Mali 65-76 Mali are the new U16 African champions. They edged former champions Egypt in the remake of 2015 Final. Siriman Kanoute (01) provided 17 points and 9 assists to lead the champions. Mali secured a 22:19 lead after the first period. They extended the margin at 4-point mark at the big break.
