Mali defend the title against Egypt at the AfroBasket U16. They grabbed a 62:61 win as Djeneba N'Diaye (165-PG-97) made one free throw at the end of the game for the final success. Egypt won the first period 14-12, but Mali replied with massive 22-13 surge in the second frame. Egypt trailed in the whole third period, but managed to reduce to 44:43 after thirty minutes. Nadine Mohamed Sayed Soliman Mohamed gave Egypt a 54:53 lead and then Fatma Mamdouh Aly Tawfik Aly tied the game at 60:60. Djeneba N'Diaye however made one free throw at the end of the game for the final success. Djeneba N'Diaye top-scored for the winners with 22 points and Adama Coulibaly (191-F-83) notched 14. Mariam Alou Coulibaly collected 12 points and 12 rebounds, whilst Aminata Diakite had 9. Nadine Mohamed Sayed Soliman Mohamed ended up with 22 points in the losing effort, while Fatma Mamdouh Aly Tawfik Aly shot 9. Nouralla Aly Mohamed Talaat Abdelalim poured in 6, whilst Nada Amr Med Monib Elsayed Bayoumi and Radwa Salem Ahmed Sherif had 5. In 2011 Mali outplayed Egypt 66:54 in the Big Final of U16 AfroBasket. Fanta Dire was the leading player in victory with 21 points. Awa Keita secured a great help adding 19 points and 14 boards.

3rd place Tunisia U16- Mozambique U16 46:50
Mozambique clinch Bronze at home court of the AfroBasket U16. They overcame Tunisia 50:46 in the game for the third place. Mozambique started the game with an 11-9, however could not win the half. Tunisia erupted with a 19-9 surge and grabbed an 8-point advantage at the halftime. Only due to the second half Mozambique managed to win the game. They won the third period 12-6 and finished with an 18-12 rally. Neidy da Luz Virginia Ocuane top-scored for the winners with 18 points and Silvia Amadeu Veloso netted 12. Dilma Jose Roldao produced 11, whilst Eleuteria Paula Mirandina Lhavanguane had 6. Ikram Jhinaoui answered with 15 points in the losing effort and Nadia Hamzaoui (180-C-97) collected 8 points and 11 rebounds. Ikram Guhiz netted 7, whilst Fatma Aouinet had 5.

5th place Angola U16- Cote d'Ivoire U16 50:38
Angola clinch 5th place in Maputo at the AfroBasket U16. They overcame Cote d'Ivoire 50:38 in the game for 5-6 places. It was a slow start at the court as both teams scored 7 points in the first period. Cote d'Ivoire took 5:2 lead, but Angola scored 16 points in each of the last three quarters. They won the second period 16-6 as Teresa Ngueve Sacato sent the teams to the lockers for 18:11. Angola won the third period 16-15 and finished the game with a 16-12 run. Eduarda Inacio Gabriel made the final result in the game. Emanuela Fernandes Mateus stepped up with 9 points for the winners, while Neusa Madalena Candido, Teresa Ngueve Sacato and Eduarda Inacio Gabriel had 7 each. Joana Domingos Antonio followed them with 6 points in a win. Solange Irene Bognini replied with 17 points in a loss, whilst Mariam Kamate, Safietou Kolga and Abiba Kone produced 5 each.

Gabon escape the last spot at the AfroBasket U16. They overcame Botswana 45:21 in the last game and finished 7th in Maputo. Both teams entered the clash winless. Gabon opened the game with a 14-8 lead, but Botswana tied the game at the halftime due to 8-2 rally in the second period. The third period was decisive in the game as Gabon erupted with a 17-0 surge to seal the victory. They added 12-5 run in the last stanza for the final result. Marel Erika Guitsinzou Akendengue top-scored for the winners with 13 points and Milame Ilarye Angue notched 9. Hardell Flaure Nang Abagha brought 8, whilst Lucretia Elaine Ibondou-Akanga had 6. Precious Kompase finished the game with 6 points in a loss, whilst Tshegofatso Morotsi had 5. Dorcus Lekoko and Precious Kebonang followed them with 3 points each in defeat.
MOZ 2013 U16 (Women): Mali, Mozambique, Egypt, Tunisia in semifinals battle - Oct 11, 2013
With an eye to defending it title Mali young ladies Thursday proved why it has remain the best women U16 side on the continent as it clinically dismissed Gabon with over 100 points margin (138-12 points) in its quarter final game to set up today (Friday) semi-final clash against host Mozambique at the Maxaquene Pavilion, Maputo.
Mali who has won the last editions of the championship must be at its best against Mozambique in the semi-final if the dream of making it a treble in a row.
Mozambique edged out Cote dIvoire by 55-44 points in their quarter final pairing while the second semi-final will see 2011 finalist Egypt conqueror of Botswana (93-48) in the quarter final take on Tunisia at 18H00. Tunisia defeated Angola by 40-36 points to reach the last four.

Egypt demolish Tunisia and advance to the Final of the AfroBasket U16. Egypt did not leave any chances for Tunisia in the Semifinal game and won 80:20. Egypt will take on Mali tomorrow in the Final game. Egypt won the first period 23-4 and dominate the whole court. They added 20-6 surge in the second frame an enjoyed a 43:10 halftime advantage. Egypt continued their dominance in the second half and won two more quarters. The favorites won the third period 22-6 and finished the game with a 15-4 run. Nadine Mohamed Sayed Soliman Mohamed top-scored for the winners with 17 points and Radwa Salem Ahmed Sherif nailed 14. Egypt or Tunisia will join them in the Final game from the second Semifinal. Mozambique meanwhile will play for the third place. Mali managed to win all four quarters of the game. They started with a 21-5 surge and added 17-16 rally in the second frame. Moreover Mali won the third period 21-9 and finished the game with a 24-7 surge. Cote d'Ivoire outscore Gabon on Friday action of the AfroBasket U16. They posted an easy 65:15 win and will play for the 5th place against Angola. Gabon meanwhile will take on Botswana in the game for 7-8 places. Cote d'Ivoire opened the game with a 12-2 run and never looked behind after. They added 19-8 run before the halftime and then kept the opponents scoreless in the third period with an 18-0 run. Cote d'Ivoire won the last stanza 16-5 and finished the game with a 50-pont win. Solange Irene Bognini stepped up with 24 points and Mariam Kamate poured in 15. Fatima Noura Gbane netted 7 and Safietou Kolga scored 6. Milame Ilarye Angue ended up with 4 points in the losing effort. Paolina Maella Ngongouaya scored 3, while 4 other players netted 2 each. Angola roll over Botswana at the Classification Round of the AfroBasket U16. Angola won 64:10 and will play for the 5th place tomorrow. Botswana meanwhile suffered another loss and will take on Gabon for 7-8 places. Angola opened the game with a 16-2 run and kept the opponents scoreless for the next 20 minutes. Angola won the second period 14-0 and then added massive 19-0 run in the third period. Botswana managed to score 8 points in the last stanza, but lost the quarter 8-15. Eduarda Inacio Gabriel paced all the winners with 14 points and Avelina Nene Ezequiel Peso scored 9. Neusa Madalena Candido finished the game with 8, while Neuma Vunge Ambriz Avelino and Juda Maria Andre Quindanda added 6 each. Precious Kebonang produced 4 points in defeat and Gaone Wame Juah Gabobofane Moepeng netted 3. Lesego Mosarwa followed them with 2 points in a loss.
