Angola is the new U16 African champions! They overcame defending champions Egypt in the title game in Antananarivo. Alexandre Joao Jungo came up with 23 points and 18 rebounds to pace the winners. Angola jumped to a 21:17 lead after ten minutes of action. They maintained the lead throughout the second period. Angola established a 42:33 halftime lead. Egypt however turned things upside down in the third term. The reigning champions erased the deficit and jumped to a 61:53 lead into the fourth frame. But Angola regained composure in the fourth period and triumphed at the end. Silvio Samuel De Sousa posted 17 points and 19 boards for the winners.

Mohamed Ab Salem pulls Egypt into the Final of the U16 AfroBasket. He nailed 37 points as his team overcame Madagascar U16 107:63 in the semifinal appearance. Egypt was the favorite of the game and proved it from the very beginning. They grabbed an 18:5 lead in the opening tip and had 31:16 lead at the end of the first period. Madagascar reduced to 12 midway through the second period, but Egypt closed the half at 49:35. The second half was fully dominated by Egypt that posted two comfortable victories. Egypt led 80:47 after three quarters and then finished with 107:63 victory. ELEZABY SEIFALDIN and MUSTAFA MUHAMMED scored 11 points each, while ALAA AHMED added 9. Orlando Rahajaniaina replied with 20 points in defeat while Kiady Rabarijoelina and RANDRIAMAMPIONONA ELLY had 14 each. Eddy Ramanampisoa followed them with 5 points.
Angola became the first Finalist of the U16 AfroBasket. The team overcame Tunisia 72:59 and will advanced to the Final. It was Tunisia to start with a 10:4 lead and then had 19:7 at the end of the first period. They reached unbelievable 17-point halftime advantage but could not win the game. Angola reduced to 15 points after another five minutes and then climbed back to 53:52 at the end of the third period. Angola enjoyed a 62:57 win after 35 minutes of the gamer and increased to final 13 points. MANUEL DANIEL top-scored for the winners with 14 points and FERNADO BRUNO notched 13. Eric Bras de Asis Amandio and Alexandre Joao Jungo delivered 12 points each in a win. Achref Gannouni replied with 17 points in defeat, while Mahmoud Hajri scored 11. Hassen Jendoubi ended up with 9 points and Younes Saidani had 8.
DR Congo beat Gabon in the Classification Round for 5-8 places at the U16 AfroBasket. DR Congo grabbed a 62:60 win and will play for the 5th place against Mozambique. Gabon meanwhile will take on Ivory Coast in the game for the 7-8 places. It was a great and tough game from both sides. Gabon took 12:10 lead at the end of the first period and then also led 2 points at the halftime. DR Congo managed to win the third period and reduced to just 1 point heading to the final quarter. Trailing 3 points with 5 minutes to go, DR Congo pushed the tempo for good and won the game by 2 points. Dialembokembi Maloka paced all the winners with 17 points and Munanga Shekinah collected 14 points and 15 rebounds. Luasa Jonathan Mpaka delivered 9, whilst SANTU CHADRACK PINDI scored 7. Stephanel Sarahn ended up with 17 points in the losing effort and DINGA IGANA JERIEL added 12. NZE MBA KEVIN KARL poured in 10 and OYONO NGUEMA EMMANUEL had 9.

Egypt U16 overcame Gabon U16 at the U16 AfroBasket. The favorites posted an 82:37 win and advanced to the Semifinals. Egypt controlled the entire game and rightfully clinched the victory. In the Semifinals Egypt will take on Madagascar. The latter overcame DR Congo in Antananarivo to reach the Semifinals of the U16 AfroBasket. The hosts of the tournament survived a 78:71 victory on Friday due to the last-minutes push.
Ivory Coast U16-Angola U16 33:68
Angola cruise past Ivory Coast to enter the Semifinals of the U16 AfroBasket. The second team of Group B overcame the third-placed squad of Group A 68:33 on Friday. It was a slow start as both teams scored 6 points in the first five minutes. Angola led 4:2 and then grabbed a 12:9 lead at the end of the first period. The second quarter was decisive in the game as Angola reached 35:13 halftime advantage. Angola continued their dominance in the second half and posted the comfortable win. Alexandre Joao Jungo paced all the winners with 27 points and DE SOUSA SILVIO collected 13 points and 10 rebounds. Aires Braulio Goubel delivered 6 and Edmilson Daniel Miranda notched 5. N'GUESSAN ABRAHAM answered with 9 points in defeat and Joyce Belga as well as Ylane Kouassi had 6 each. N'GORAN CLAUDE brought 4 points in the losing case.
Achref Gannouni leads Tunisia into the semis of the U16 AfroBasket. He nailed 43 points to help his team to beat Mozambique 71:55 in the Quarterfinal Stage. Although Mozambique finished fourth in Group B, they won the opening tip. Trailing however 7:9 after the first five minutes, Tunisia grabbed a 27:14 lead at the end of the first period. The latter had 45:32 advantage at the halftime and never looked behind after. Tunisia increased to 16 points midway through the third frame and led 59:45 after three periods. Mozambique meanwhile reduced to 9 points with 5 minutes to go, but Tunisia grabbed a 16-point victory. Mahmoud Hajri scored 7 points for the winners, while three other players scored 4 each. Loren Langa ended up with 29 points and 12 rebounds in defeat, whilst OCTAVIO CHUMA and Titos Fernando poured in 11 each. GUIAMBA WAGNER delivered 4 points in the losing effort.

Madagascar started better and won the first period 17:11. They could not however dominate the rest of the half as DR Congo tied the game at 33:33 when the teams disappeared in the lockers. DR Congo led 45:40 after 25 minutes and then closed the third period with a 5-point lead. The board showed 63:59 with 5 minutes to go, but then Madagascar went on a final push and sealed the victory. Orlando Rahajaniaina paced all the winners with 17 points and RANDRIAMAMPIONONA ELLY had 16. Antsa Ravelojaona delivered 14, while Eddy Ramanampisoa poured in 12. Egypt wins Group B of the U16 AfroBasket. The team handed Angola their first loss and remained undefeated. Egypt advanced from the first place to the Quarterfinals after an 82:53 win. It was the game for the top position in the group. Angola won the opening tip 7:5, but Egypt had 15:12 after the first period. They pushed the tempo in the second frame and led 34:23 at the halftime. Moreover Egypt had 58:40 after three quarters and increased to final 29 points at the end. ALAA AHMED stepped up with 14 points for the winners and EMADELDIN RAAFAT nailed 13. AB SALEM MOHAMED and ABDELHAMMID AYAMANA scored 12 points apiece. Alexandre Joao Jungo answered with 16 points in defeat and Cley Wagner Cabanga poured in 11. Mozambique fell at 2-3 record and advanced from the fourth place. DR Congo led 18-1 after the first 5 minutes of the game and enjoyed a 20:9 rally. They scored another 8 unanswered points for 28:9 after 15 minutes in the court. DR Congo had 44:26 after 30 minutes, but slowed down a bit in the end. Mozambique won the last period and reduced to final 11 points. Munanga Shekinah top-scored for the winners with 21 points and 13 rebounds while MALOKA GLODY notched 11. Pindi Santu Chadrack collected 9 points and 13 rebounds, whilst MPAKA JONATHANA added 6. GUIAMBA WAGNER answered with 14 points and 14 boards in defeat and Loren Langa posted 13. Tunisia outscored Gabon in Antananarivo for a perfect 3-0 record in Group A of the U16 AfroBasket. They posted a 69:31 victory to remain undefeated at the tournament. Tunisia started the game with a 22-16 lead and never looked behind after. They added 22-10 surge in the second frame and had 44:26 halftime advantage. Tunisia played even better in defense in the second half and limited the opponents to just 5 points. They won the third period 10-2 and finished the game with a 15-3 burst. Egypt led 51:8 midway through the second period and enjoyed 60:19 lead at the halftime. Egypt led 85:23 after three quarters and desired to post three-digit number in the last stanza. They easily managed to do it and finished with a 114-27 win. MUSTAFA MUHAMMED scored 21 points for the winners. EMADELDIN RAAFAT nailed 14, while ALAA AHMED poured in 12. Kiady Randrianarivelo nailed 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as Madagascar improved at 2-1 record. Gabon fell at 0-2 record in Group A. Madagascar jumped to a 16:9 lead after ten minutes. They maintained the lead throughout the second period. The hosts secured a 32:19 halftime lead. Gabon stopped the rot in the third term. They narrowed the margin in the next period and eventually tied things up at 38. But Madagascar ignited a 16:7 run in the fourth frame to seal the victory. Eddy Ramanampisoa had 11 points and 15 boards, while Orlando Rahajaniaina netted 10 points in the victory. Tgana Dinga answered with 12 points for Gabon. N'Dui Edou had 11 points in the loss.

Egypt earned the second straight win at the start of U16 AfroBasket. They stamped Mozambique to stay on top of Group B. Muhammed Saadeldin nailed 20 points to lead the winners. Mozambique fell at 0-1 after the loss. Mozambique led midway through the opening quarter but Egypt strongly finished the period to gain a 20:12 lead. Egypt cleared off in the second term. They built a 54:25 halftime lead. Egypt extended their dominance in the third term. They accumulated a massive 80:33 advantage at the final intermission. Egypt opened the fourth frame on a 10:2 run and never looked back. Mugif Abdel netted 15 points and made 8 steals, while Mohamed Salem contributed 13 points for the winning side. Chuma Octavto responded with 13 points for Mozambique. Langa Loren chipped in 11 points in the loss.

DR Congo outscore Comoros in Day 3 of the U16 AfroBasket. They posted a comfortable 66:37 win for 1-1 record. Comoros suffered their second loss and dropped at 0-2 record. DR Congo opened the game with a 21-8 lead and added 21-10 surge in the second frame. Comoros however started to play better in the second half and managed to win the third period with a 9-8 rally. DR Congo meanwhile finished the game with a 16-10 surge and clinched the victory. Munanga Shekinah top-scored for the winners with 23 points and 15 rebounds, while Dialembokembi Maloka added 15. Madagascar meanwhile dropped at 1-1 record after two games played. Both teams nailed 8 points each in the opening tip, while Tunisia won the first period 19:11. They increased to 26:16 midway through the second period and led 34:25 at the halftime. Madagascar cut it to 42:37 in the third frame but Tunisia needed another push for 52:42 after thirty minutes. They team erupted in the last stanza and managed to win by 26 points. GANNOUNI ACHREF top-scored for the winners with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while JAOUADI JAOUHAR netted 14. Ivory Coast enjoyed 33:16 at the halftime, but was scoreless in the first five minutes of the third period. Gabon managed to reduce to 39:31with 10 minutes to go. Egypt claimed the opening win at the U16 AfroBasket. They fired past DR Congo counterparts in Group B opener. Mohamed Salem notched 16 points to lead the winners. Egypt opened the game with 12 straight points. DR Congo struggled to match their opponents and trailed by as many as 17 points after ten minutes 9:26. Egypt remained aggressive in the second quarter. They piled up a 48:22 halftime lead. Egypt kept DR Congo at bay throughout the third frame. They secured a 73:36 lead into the fourth stanza. Egypt did not slow in the fourth term and sealed a comprehensive win at the end. Muhammed Saadeldin dropped 13 points, while Moursy El and Ahmed Taha netted 10 points each in the victory. Munanga Shekinah responded with 17 points and 21 rebounds for DR Congo. Dialembokembi Maloka netted 7 points in the loss.

Madagascar victoriously opened their U16 AfroBasket campaign. The hosts cruised past Cote d'Ivoire in Antananarivo. Eddy Franco Ramanampisoa stepped up with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the winners. Madagascar rolled to an 18:10 lead after ten minutes. The gap kept on growing throughout the second quarter. The hosts secured a 43:20 halftime lead. Cote dIvoire tried to change the complexion of the game in the third term. They got within 20 points at the final break. But the gap proved too deep to overtime. Madagascar maintained the advantage and coasted to the victory at the end. Orlando Rahajaniaina dropped 21 points, while Randriamampionona Elly and Randrianarivelo Kenny chipped in 10 points each for the winners. Lath Henri responded with 18 points for Cote d'Ivoire. Kouassi Ylane netted 14 points in the defeat.
