Meknes 2013 ACCW: Interclube pick third title beat Primeiro 61-60 - Nov 29, 2013
Grupo Desportivo Interclube De Luanda basketball club of Angola Friday defeated it city rival Primeiro DAgosto basketball club by 61-60 points to win her third title in four years.
Interclube began the game with a 10-0 points lead early in the first quarter before Primeiro could reply but the champion went on to win the quarter by 22-11 points but a strong match-up from Primeiro in second quarter through the game open as Primeiro forward, Mozambique international Leia Dongue stepped a massive pressure on the Interclube players dominating the board and scoring at will as her club (Primeiro) took a one point lead at half-time as Interclube lost the second quarter by 15-27 (38-37).
The third quarter went Interclube way as they refused to give winning to quarter by 13-09 points to take a six points advantage going into the last quarter which was fiercely played by both side with Primeiro taking lead by one point with less than six second left on the clock, a time-out by the bench of Interclube thus change the face of the game as the players make good use of the time-out to turn things around with a buzzer shot to end the game in their favour to win their third Champions Cup (2010, 2011 and 2013).
Eagle Wings basketball club of Kenya won the third place with First Deepwater basketball club of Nigeria winning the fair-play trophy.
Interclube dominate awards, as Lucas was crown MVP Interclube again prove the better side of the champions cup with three players named to the continents TOP-5 roll call, these players include Italee Lucas, Astrida Vicente and Meiya Tirera with Primeiro DAgosto duo of Leia Dongue and Deolinda completing the list.
Interclube mercurial guard Lucas again won the most valuable player (MVP award thus taking over the mantle from 2012 award winner Clarisse Machangwana of Liga Desportiva basketball club of Maputo, Mozambique.
Other award winners include best rebounder of the final round of the champions cup Hermine Ngueko of Club Omnisports De Meknes and her compatriot Ramata Dauo who won the highest scorer award, United States International University guard Hilda Hindasi Luvandwa won the best three-point award.

The final of the 19th Africa Champions Cup for Women will witness an all-Angola club-sides as Grupo Desportivo Interclube de Luanda defeated Eagle Wings basketball club of Kenya by 76-50 points in the second semi-finals to set up a grand finale match-up against Primeiro DAgosto basketball club who earlier in the defeated First Deepwater basketball club of Nigeria.
Interclube won in all four quarters and every department of the game against Eagle Wings (21-10, 15-0, 19-11 and 21-19) to clip the wings of the Eagle from Nairobi, Kenya and advance to its fourth straight finals.
The two-time champion who was led in scoring by Angola international forward Astrida Vicente who poured in 21 points and 3 assist led the Kenyan in field-goals, a better percentage in free throw and also won the board 34-23 rebounds.
Vicente was joined on the scorer chat by American import Italee Lucas with 13 points. 7 assist and 2 rebounds while Malian international centre Meiya Tirera added 12 points, 5 rebound and 3 steal.
Interclube will attempt a shot at a third title as it files out against Primeiro DAgosto at 17H00 on Friday. The third place match between Nigeria First Deepwater and Eagle Wings of Kenya will tip-off at 14H30. Catarina Camufal (167-PG-80)
